Favorable outcome of classic Kaposi's sarcoma with expectant management

Kaposi's sarcoma is a vascular neoplasm associated with human herpesvirus 8. Its classic variant primarily affects elderly individuals of European origin and is characterized by violaceous macules and nodules on the lower extremities, usually asymptomatic and with an indolent course. We present the case of a 91-year-old woman with violaceous and brown macules and nodules, as well as lower limb edema, with a six-month evolution. A skin biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of classic Kaposi's sarcoma. Due to the absence of systemic involvement, no active treatment was initiated, and the patient was monitored clinically, showing near-complete resolution of the lesions after three months of follow-up.
