Abstract

We present the case of a patient with bullous pemphigoid who developed interstitial pneumonitis while receiving treatment with azathioprine. This side effect of azathioprine is very rare but has a significant impact on health. There are few published cases of azathioprine-induced pneumonitis, most of them in transplant patients, but in dermatology, a bibliographic search reveals only one published case in a patient with pemphigus. Early suspicion and immediate discontinuation of the drug are crucial for a favourable outcome.
